Finally, an official, confirmed date from Microsoft. The Xbox team are planning to announce the next generation Xbox console on May 21st this year. The event was announced by the Xbox team, and will take place at the Microsoft campus in Redmond.

\

“On Tuesday May 21st, we’ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment. On that day, we’ll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE and broadcast on Spike TV if you are in the US or Canada,” Microsoft’s Larry Hryb stated. “On that day, we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we’ll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games.”

\

It was originally rumoured that the Xbox team were planning to announce the Next Xbox in April, but had to delay the event due to unknown reasons. Either way, we finally have a confirmed date from the company. We should all be very excited.

\

Microsoft may go down the same road that Sony did, which would include revealing a few games and console features, but not the actual console. We’ll have to wait and see what they are planning!
