Microsoft has acknowledged new issues with the optional update for Windows 10 version 1809 released last week. The build 17763.348 (KB4482887), which is only available for Windows 10 users checking for updates in Windows Update, brought quite a long list of fixes, but there’s one issue that’s apparently causing performance drops in many PC games.

“After installing KB4482887, users may notice graphics and mouse performance degradation with desktop gaming when playing certain games (eg: Destiny 2),” Microsoft said in the release notes for the build 17763.348. The Verge’s Tom Warren indepently confirmed that he’s been experiencing “crazy FPS drops” in games like Destiny 2 or Apex Legends.

Microsoft says it’s “working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release” for the gaming performance issues in KB4482887. Microsoft says uninstall the update for now to get gaming perf back https://t.co/8luh96h6mO

For now, the only work around is to uninstall this latest patch, but Microsoft says that it’s will provide a fix in an upcoming release. That may well be this month’s Patch Tuesday, which will be released next week on March 12. In the meantime, if you’re a gamer it’s probably best to avoid downloading this optional update on your PC.
