Microsoft introduced the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL last month at the Mobile World Congress. The former is expected to hit retail shelves this month in several global markets, in fact, it’s already available in many markets already along with its bigger sibling, the Lumia 640 XL.
According to a new report, MetroPCS is expected to launch the Lumia 640 in the US carrying an extremely affordable $99 price tag — the price is not final at the moment as per the report citing MetroPCS employee as the source.
The handset features an excellent set of specifications, and take cares of the drawbacks present in the Lumia 630/635. There’s a 5-inch 720p display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage coupled with a microSD card slot should you ever require more storage. The smartphone also features an 8MP main camera, a 2,500 mAh battery and ships with Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim as its operating system.
Apart from MetroPCS, T-Mobile is also expected to carry the Lumia 640 — it’s listed as coming soon on the company’s website. It’s not just T-Mobile, AT&T is also set to launch the Lumia 640 as well as the Lumia 640 XL but the exact availability or pricing are not yet available.
