A new stability improving firmware update has released for the Lumia 550 and 650 line of phones. The uninspiring but aptly titled firmware update 01078.00037.16082.410xx is said to bring “stability and quality improvements” to the Lumia 550 and 650 handsets according to the Windows team.

We have started rolling out a new firmware update for Lumia 550/650:  01078.00037.16082.410xx. Key improvements in this release include:

  • Stability and quality improvements.

The availability of this update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. At the moment, the update should be already available for the first batch of phones and the rollouts will continue gradually.

As more devices upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile (at least the ones that are eligible) firmware updates will play an ever increasing role in making sure the user experience is further perfected. While the Windows 10 Mobile brings a fresh new coat of paint on the UI and adds some user requested features, it’s firmware updates such as these that help meld all the new additions together by addressing the intangibles such as proximity sensors, battery’s, animations, etc.

Let us know in the comment section below, if you’re seeing the update come to your phone.

Thanks for the tip Vicky!
