Lumia530 Start

For those of you who are waiting for the budget-friendly Lumia 530, it’s set to hit retail in the US starting tomorrow. T-Mobile has officially confirmed it’s going to stock the Lumia 530 with an off-contract price of $79.20 — $10 higher than what was previously reported. The handset will be available for sale in white at T-Mobile stores and online from October 15th. Starting tomorrow, the prepaid carrier Cricket Wireless will also offer the budget-friendly handset in cyan for $49.90 through carrier stores and their website.

“Cricket’s no-annual contract plans with access to high speed data at $35 (1GB of high speed data), $45 (3GB of high speed data), $55 (10GB of high speed data), all after $5 auto bill pay credit,** gives shoppers a way to save money without sacrificing quality,” said Andy Smoak, head of product for Cricket Wireless. “The Lumia 530 is an exciting new smartphone for first time or transitional wireless customers who are ready to upgrade their existing feature phone.”

T-Mobile customers who can’t wait until October 15th can get the Lumia 530 from Microsoft and Best Buy stores for $69, which is lower than what T-Mobile has priced it at.

As a quick recap, the Lumia 530 rocks a 4-inch display sporting a resolution of 480 by 854 pixels, and a quad-core Snapdragon 200 SoC clocked at 1.2GHz. On the back side, there’s a 5MP camera for photos and videos. Unfortunately, the device doesn’t feature a front-facing camera.

There’s 4 GB of internal storage with microSD card slot which supports up to 128 GB of memory cards, 512 MB of RAM, a 1,430 mAh battery and runs Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box. The specifications it offers aren’t too attractive, but anyone looking to give Windows Phone 8.1 a run can purchase the Lumia 530 for a more affordable price.
