Hogwarts Legacy

Giant Freakin Robot has reported that a television series based on the recently released Hogwarts Legacy video game is in the works at HBO Max. According to GFR, their source tells them that the show is in the very early stages of development. No further details have been made available at this time.

The news isn’t entirely surprising given the popularity of the Hogwarts Legacy game, which has already seen 267 million hours played since its release on February 10th. The open-world action-RPG has been met with both critical acclaim and commercial success.

Hogwarts Legacy has been the subject of controversy in the months leading up to its release and beyond. Many have called for a boycott of the game because of statements made about trans people by author J.K. Rowling, upon whose Harry Potter book series the game is based. There have also been accusation of antisemitism in those books over their portrayal of the goblins.

If this report is accurate, Hogwarts Legacy will join an ever-growing list of video games to get TV adaptations including Castlevania, Halo and most recently The Last of Us.
