If you’re a Lumia 930 or 1520 Windows Insider who utilizes Cortana on a regular basis, then you’ll be pleased to know that the two phones just got an update to the personal assistant, making it a bit more user friendly. The new update adds user interface changes, improvements to the training feature, and more.
The most significant addition in the new update is one that makes improvements to the training feature, and helps to polish the Cortana experience a bit more. Before the update, users would have to say several different phrases in order to calibrate Cortana to recognize their voice properly. Now, however, you can just say “Hey, Cortana” a few times, and you’ll be ready to go.
On top of the new training system, the Lumia 930 and 1520 have a new feature – as of now a feature that the 950 and 950XL don’t have – that saves battery life. With the new setting, you can set it so that Cortana will only be on when the device is plugged in, or when the display is on. It’s not that big of a change, but it definitely offers some more control over Cortana, and lets users customize the way that they experience their personal assistant.
