In a recent update to Cortana for Android, you can now finally call on Cortana by name. Just like on a Windows Phone or your desktop, you can get access to Cortana at any time by saying “Hey Cortana.” Unlike the Windows version, on Android “Hey Cortana” only works when the phone is already unlocked. That in mind, it’s hard to think that the “Hey Cortana” functionality is that substantial on Android, but at the very least, it’s something to make it feel more complete.
If you want to enable the “Hey Cortana” functionality on your Android device, the process is actually quite simple. All you need to do is go into the settings of your Cortana app and enable the option that reads “Hey Cortana”. After that, you’re all set.
This is definitely a move in the right direction for Android’s Cortana app, and it’s probably a good sign that Microsoft is well on its way for releasing the app officially shortly.
