If you’re not already enjoying Minecraft, then we’ve got a reason for you to start enjoying the game some more. The team over at Mojang have announced that the last-minecrafter-standing deathmatch Battle mini game is rolling out today to all owners of the console editions of Minecraft via a free game update.
The Battle mini game includes three free maps on which you can battle it out with your friends, and more packs will be released down the line for $2.99 or local equivalent. The Battle mini game also provides a simple infrastructure for running or jumping into a session, a very popular activity among Minecraft players.
It is just the first of several mini games which will be released for Minecraft Console edition, and is designed with console in mind. The Battle mini game is super-accessible and fast-paced, and is made to support couch-based competition just as easily as online matchmaking. There’s no need to craft anything in the Battle mini game, and you can loot inventories and equip armour with the tap of a button. Then, if you fall beneath your opponent’s blade (or enchanted fishing rod) you can even respawn as a spectating bat, fluttering in the face of your nemesis.
