Cuphead, the popular run and gun platform game from indie developer StudioMDHR, has now reached 5 million copies sold two years after its release. This is pretty impressive considering this is the first game by StudioMDHR, who also chose to skip the PlayStation 4 to release its game on Xbox One, PC, macOS, as well as the Nintendo Switch.
Cuphead turns two today, and we're so humbled to announce: it has officially gone five-times platinum!!
Starting now, the game is 20% off on all platforms for a full week. And stay tuned, because we have 5 days of fun and giveaways planned to celebrate 5 million copies sold! pic.twitter.com/oe7uTzY62Y

To celebrate this new milestone, the $19.99 game is currently 20% off on all platforms for a week. As a reminder, the Xbox One version also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, meaning you can play it on a Windows 10 PC and pick up where you left off thanks to Xbox Live cloud saves.
Cuphead’s success is quite interesting as its brutal difficulty pretty much betrays its family-friendly look. This is not really a game for casual gamers, though the game’s hand drawn graphics are very unique and fans of vintage cartoons should love it.
If you’re a Cuphead fan, a new DLC named The Delicious Last Course will be released next year. The additional content will introduce a brand new character, Ms. Chalice, who will have her own set of skills such as double jump. The DLC will also bring a new isle with additional levels, bosses, weapons and charms.
This new DLC won’t be the end of the road for the game as The Cuphead Show, a new animated series is coming to Netflix at a later date. The project as some prestigious names attached to it, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the game’s universe will translate to the TV format.
