Bing Chat user engagement tracking coming to Bing Webmaster Tools

At the beginning of February, Microsoft launched the new Bing which it terms as the AI-powered copilot for the web. While it is an incredible feat, the new entry has been received with mixed reactions. Some users have found it to be quite useful in performing some tasks, while others still have reservations about it.

Either way, Microsoft continues to make significant headway on that front and has recently debuted Bing Chat to Bing, Edge Mobile apps, and even Skype. What’s more, just yesterday, the company delivered on its promise and announced that Bing Chat v96 is in full production.

And now, in a bid to help publishers understand how Bing Chat users engage with their sites, Microsoft is adding reporting and tools to Bing Webmaster Tools. The Principal Product Manager at Microsoft Bing, Fabrice Canel, made this announcement earlier today in a keynote at PubCon Austin.

Publishers will be able to track how Bing Chat users interact with their sites using the new index coverage report and highlight how much traffic the feature is driving to their sites. The indexing report will also show how your site pages are being indexed by Bing Search. What’s more, they’ll also be able to see impressions, clicks, clicks through rate, and more.

Interestingly enough, some of the issues that Microsoft’s promised Bing Chat update aims to fix include the tool giving incorrect and “hallucinated” answers to queries. Share your thoughts with us regarding this new integration in the comment section.
