Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder and philantropist and one of the richest people in human history, has once again claimed the top spot of a list of the world’s wealthiest 50 people with a cool $87.4 billion net worth.
This is according to new data provided to Business Insider by Wealth-X , a wealth-tracking website who built a database of more than 110,000 ultra-high-net-worth people. To do its rankings, the company is “using a proprietary valuation model that takes into account each person’s assets, then adjusts estimated net worth to account for currency-exchange rates, local taxes, savings rates, investment performance, and other factors”.
To add some interesting facts, you should know that Bill Gates is $20 billion ahead of the second place finisher, Spanish retail entrepreneur Armancio Ortega, and the person closing this list is scoring a still impressive $14,3 billion. Business Insider also notes that “29 of the top 50 hail from the US and nearly a quarter made their fortunes in tech”.
