Big data is the focus of a partnership between Microsoft and Tsinghua University

Big Data is an emerging field of computer science and has been a buzz phrase in the industry for a couple of years. The concept of collecting massive amounts of data and processing the data to gain insights has been booming in recent years. Now Microsoft Asia is partnering with Tsinghua Univeristy in China to further education and understanding around big data. One major concern of big data is how new the field of study is compared to other areas of computer science.

Microsoft is trying to share their understanding and current work with university students to hopefully grow the field of big data. There are still a lot of unknowns when it comes to best practices and trends concerning this new field. In addition to teaching students, Microsoft hopes to learn from students and professors on the bleeding edge of big data research. The data trend is coming fast and Microsoft wants to position themselves in the center of the action.
