We’re just a couple of days away from the end of support for Windows XP, though a surprising number of individuals and businesses are continuing to run the aging operating system. Microsoft has tried hard to change that, but success seems to have alluded them in some cases.
Now Best Buy is attempting to help out, launching a new trade-in program that kicks off today and runs through April 19th. Customers can bring in a Windows XP notebook and receive $100 in credit to use towards the purchase of a replacement. It doesn’t have to be a new Windows system either — both Apple and Chromebooks are included.
“Now through 4/19/2014, bring in your working Windows XP laptop and trade it in for a $25 gift card plus a discount coupon good for $75 toward the purchase of a new Windows computer, Apple computer or Chromebook”, the announcement page reads.
The offer is valid in-store only and customers have until May 3rd to use the credit. It also excludes markdown items. However, given the cost of such a computer as the Chromebook C720 from Acer, it means a new system can be had for as little at $99.
