BBM for Windows Phone adds new emoticons, improves notifications and much more in its latest update

It’s been just a few month since BlackBerry released its iconic BlackBerry Messenger app, BBM on Windows Phone. The app has followed an aggressive update cycle since, adding new features and improvements. Just few moments ago, it received another major update adding several new features while ironing out bugs.

Bumping up the version number to 1.2.0.10, BlackBerry Messenger has added 16 new emoticons, a new invite screen, and improvements to the notifications. Here’s the complete changelog:

  • Improved notifications: View a message preview outside of BBM including the sender and chat content.
  • New emoticons: 16 new emoticons have been added to bring more personality to your chats
  • A simplified PIN barcode screen where you can display and scan barcodes in one place
  • A new invite screen that includes suggested BBM contacts along with invites you’ve received and sent
  • BBM Group enhancements:  Invite contacts to join your BBM Group through email and SMS
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements

Over the last few updates, the app has become speedier, and has tightened its privacy and security by giving users more control over what they want to share and with whom they want to share it with. The company assures that it is working on a major v2 update via which it plans to add several more features to the service.

You can snag the app from the download link below.
