Yesterday, CNET posted a story about AT&T enjoying a carrier exclusive on Microsoft’s new Lumia 950 flagship smartphone. They quoted Tuula Rytila, Corporate V.P. of Marketing for phones and news devices, as the source. We posted our own story lamenting the exclusive and pointing out that, at least, the 950XL will be available unlocked directly from the Microsoft Store.
Turns out, CNET issued a retraction yesterday afternoon, and it’s looking like AT&T does not have an exclusive on the 950.
Correction, 1:54 p.m. PT: The deal between AT&T and Microsoft for the Lumia 950 is not an exclusive one.
We’re going to dig into this a bit more and see what we can find out. In the meantime, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint customers, there’s hope that you could get your own carrier-flavored version of the Lumia 950.
Thanks to WinBeta commentor Rfletcher for pointing out CNET’s retraction!
