Apple Releases iOS 5 Beta 5 For Developers

Apple has just put up the fifth beta version of its new operating system for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices. iOS 5 Beta 5 build 9A5288d is now available over the air, just like the previous beta build.

This new iOS 5 beta 5 is compatible with the iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3 and 4, and the Apple TV.

This is the second beta build of iOS 5 to make use of the over-the-air update technology that lets users update to newer system software without having to use iTunes to make it happen. In the past, users would have to download the update and then run it as a full restore.

Apple is working hard on getting iOS 5 up and running, especially with Microsoft’s recent release of Windows Phone Mango. iOS 5 Beta 4 was released over two weeks ago and now its time for yet another juicy beta build. From what we are being told, the release notes for Beta 5 mentions multiple iCloud accounts, but no idea on specifics just yet.

Apple recently went live with its iCloud website, which is set to be the company’s big cloud-based services push. The website is currently in beta and is apparently only available to those who have an existing MobileMe account on a OSX machine.

iOS 5 Beta 5 is available over the air (128mb), so check for updates!
