Another one bites the dust: 500px drops Windows, Windows Phone apps

More news of developers fleeing the Windows and Windows Phone platforms, this time it’s 500px, the Canadian based online photography community. Users of that site received an email today, explaining that they have been “reevaluating” their app strategy, and have decided to drop their Windows Phone and Windows 8 apps, along with their Google Chrome OS app, discontinuing them at the end of April.

500px is a small operation, although a popular one, so it’s somewhat understandable that they need to concentrate on where there users are, but still, it’s another blow to the reputation of Windows and Windows Phone as viable app marketplaces.

There are a number of third party Windows Phone apps for 500px, and the email encourages users to use the website, so the damage shouldn’t be too severe, except as another blow to Microsoft.

Are you a 500px user?
