  3. Amazon discounts the Surface Pro 3 up to $350

Amazon discounts the Surface Pro 3 up to $350

With the announcement and imminent release of the Surface Pro 4 comes the inevitable cascade of discounts on its predecessor, the Surface Pro 3. The Microsoft Store itself announced with would be doing discounts for customers in the US and the UK until the end of October. Amazon is going even further, offering as much as up to $350 off on last year’s productivity hybrid.

Interestingly, Amazon is not only selling all five of the Surface Pro 3 variations on discount, but it’s also giving much more freedom in how to configure the schemes. The devices can be bought with either Windows 10 or Windows 8.1 installed, and purchasers of Windows 8.1 get even further discounts. The upgrade offerings are quite interesting, as current Windows 8.1 users can upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

As far as the deals are concerned, there seems to be little reason not to go with Windows 8.1 if it can save extra money. Depending on which configuration you select, choosing Windows 8.1 over Windows 10 could save you over $100. Oddly, as of right now, choosing Windows 8.1 in some configurations could actually increase the price marginally.

Either way, be sure to check the pricing on both operating system configurations, when picking the cheaper one, as both will end up with Windows 10 anyway. For those of you dissatisfied with Windows 10 thus far, you at least have the option to get Windows 8.1 instead.
