After acquisition, Microsoft brings Simplygon Cloud 3D optimization tools to the Azure Marketplace

Following its acquisition of 3D model optimisation expert Simplygon back in January, Microsoft announced today that it’s launching the Simplygon Cloud virtual machine in the Azure Marketplace. The new offering should be an interesting resource for developers looking to optimize 3D assets in a cost-effective way.

“Historically, 3D asset optimization has taken days or weeks of manual effort and is one of the tasks that artists and developers dislike the most,” explained Lorraine Bardeen, General Manager, Windows Mixed Reality Experiences. “With Simplygon, you can create 3D assets once – at full visual fidelity – and automatically optimize them to render smoothly on any platform – within minutes, saving valuable time and money.”

The cloud 3D optimization tools currently support popular rendering engines such as Unity 3D and Unreal Engine, as well as mixed reality platforms from Google and Apple (in addition to Windows Mixed Reality). You can learn more about Simplygon Cloud on the Azure Marketplace and this support page.
