AdDuplex: Windows 10 October 2018 update crossed 6.6% market share in December

It’s been a little more than a month now since Microsoft re-released the Windows 10 October 2018 update, and its propagation is still very slow according to AdDuplex’s latest data. Indeed, even though the October 2018 Update doubled its share since last month, it still has a single digit market share this month with just 6.6%.

“October Update is unique throughout the history of Windows 10 updates. While previous updates inevitably shoot up after a month or two on the market, O18U is still lingering near the zero axis on the chart,” noted AdDuplex. As usual, the ad network only takes into account Windows 10 PCs running AdDuplex ads, and this latest report isn’t a completely accurate picture of the Windows 10 ecosystem.

AdDuplex also took another look at the Surface family of devices this month, and the new Surface Go and Surface Pro 6 are now in 4th and 5th place with a 12.31% and 7.76% usage share, respectively. The Surface Laptop 2 is far behind at 1.2%, while the freshly-released Surface Studio 2 closes the ranking at 0.07%. The Surface Go appears to be an early hit for the company, and it looks there was a high demand for an affordable Surface tablet that can do more than an iPad or other small tablet computers.
