The latest update to Rocket League brings cross-platform play to Xbox One. Now Xbox One gamers can play Rocket League against opponents on Windows 10 PC and vice-versa. The Rocket League update is set to hit Xbox One consoles tonight at 6 PM EST.
Psyonix, the developers of Rocket League, are thrilled with the latest update for Rocket League. Psyonix Vice President, Jeremy Dunham, gives his thoughts on the newest Rocket League update:
“We’re really excited to bring Xbox One and PC players closer together. Cross-network play has been something that Xbox One gamers have been asking us for since the day we launched, and thanks to Microsoft’s new cross-network policies, we’re proud to give it to them.”
Rocket League cross-platform play is not headed for the Playstation 4 just yet. In March, Microsoft announced that it was allowing the Xbox One to be open to cross-platform play, with “other consoles,” included. However, the ability to have cross-platform play is solely up to the game developers, not the console makers.
Psyonix plans to roll out the cross-platform compatibility Rocket League update tonight starting at 6 p.m. EST. Once the update is applied, there will be an option in the game options area that you will need to toggle to enable cross-network matchmaking.
