500,000 Windows Developer Preview downloads since launch

The CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer said in today’s BUILD keynote that the Windows Developer Preview has been downloaded over 500,000 times since launch early last night.

The Developer Preview has been up for about a day now and has already been downloaded by hundreds of thousands developers. The operating system released was build 8102 and is available from the Windows Developer website.

This preview also includes Visual Studio 2011, the new features in this version allow you to create metro style apps for the Windows 8 Start Screen.

Microsoft is aiming to launch Windows 8 next year. With a beta coming soon, Microsoft have been hard at work on making Windows 8 the best operating system ever produced by the company.
