The Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) in Orlando is a busy place to be this week. Today, a celebration party was held there to announce the 34 best Office apps of 2015. With Office being a cross-platform productivity suite, apps in several stores were eligible. Eligible app stores included the Office Store, Azure Marketplace, Windows Phone and even the Android and Apple stores. In each of the app stores were several thousands of apps that call Office data. However, the award nominees were whittled down to 110 apps. App judges decided over the winners and losers from an exclusive crowd of talented developers.
There were thirteen categories in all that made up the competitive landscape. Nintex took the biggest win in the People’s Choice Award as the best overall developer. In the category for Best User Interface for an Office app, Mentimeter took first place with DocuSign and PicHit.Me in second and third place respectively. These three add-ins showed up again in the Most Business Value Category with DocuSign getting first place.
Other notable winners include Fluidity Software as The Best performing Add-in app. Sensei Project Solutions and CS Milestone Trend Analysis both picked up an MSProject Award for most business value and best international developer.
In the Mobility App Award category, Mobiliya Technologies claimed first place while Nintex (for SharePoint) and Bullhorn (for Office) won the Most Launched App award. Lastly, the Best Office 365 Award went to SmartSheet.
Judging by the awards granted recently, it looks like the Office and SharePoint apps are adding huge value to basic programs.
