When Windows 10 Insider Preview build 15002 for PC hit earlier this week with a staggering amount of new features, we were colored impressed. But only a few days later, build 15007 made its way to the Fast ring, this time bringing improvements across Windows 10 on other devices and giving us a first look at the upcoming Game Mode in the Xbox app (via The Verge).
As we reported a week ago, Game Mode is a new feature coming to Windows 10 that will prioritise PC processes to enhance video game performance. As of the Insider Preview build 15007, gamers are now able to see the option available through the Xbox app. The option is a simple checkbox “Use Game mode for this game” without any clear description of how Microsoft intends to fully implement the performance gain.
In fact, we’re not even sure that it works as of yet considering the feature hasn’t been announced or mentioned in the usual build blog posts.
Another small feature that made its debut in Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 15007 was the addition of the Beam broadcaster, however, it isn’t able to be used as of yet.
This is just another step for Microsoft is taking as they gear Windows 10 to become an all-in-one platform. Both of these features are slotted to release with the Creators Update expected to release in April this year.
