TypeScript 2.0, Microsoft’s latest version of its JavaScript superset, gets final release

Microsoft has just announced the official final release of TypeScript 2.0, its free and open source JavaScript superset programming language. The release comes after an initial beta back in June, and a production release from back in August.

The announcement was officially made by Daniel Rosenwasser to Microsoft’s official Developer Tools Blog. In the post, he addresses the journey for the TypeScript team and goes into the full details on all the new features of the superset programming language. According to Daniel, TypeScript 2.0 brings enhanced developer productivity, advanced TypeScript alignment with ECMAScript’s evolution and wide support for  JavaScript libraries and tools.

To download TypeScript 2.0, however, you must  update TypeScript 2.0 for Visual Studio 2015 with Update 3. To grab it with NuGet, start using TypeScript 2.0 in Visual Studio Code.  For, Visual Studio “15” Preview users, however, TypeScript 2.0 will be included in the next Preview release.
