Destiny 2 Video Game Has Been Confirmed For Microsoft’s Next Gen Xbox Series X Console – onmsft.com

The official Twitter account for Bungie, the studio behind Destiny 2, confirmed in a tweet last night that the game would be on next gen consoles and that more information is coming soon.

The tweet wasn’t posted by itself for followers of the account to read. Instead, it came in the form of a reply to the Xbox account’s tweet promoting all of the studios that are developing games for Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Series X console as part of yesterday’s online Series X stream.

With the Xbox Series X confirmed to support most Xbox One titles, this could just mean that current Xbox One players will be able to play the game on the Series X. This would technically place the game “on” a next gen platform. If this is the case, the Xbox One version of Destiny 2 could likely receive an update that would unlock some visual improvements when played on the Xbox Series X much like it did for the Xbox One X console.

Another possibility of course is that a new version of Destiny 2 designed specifically for Xbox Series X consoles is in the works. Either way, Destiny 2 players shouldn’t have to worry about support ending for the title anytime soon with plans for next gen consoles being in the works. It’s a shame the same can’t be said for Star Wars Battlefront II which ended support with its latest update and has resulted in a large number of fans feeling abandoned.

How do you think Destiny 2 will be realized on the Xbox Series X console? Would you be happy with some minor optimizations or would you prefer a new build for the next gen? Sign off in the comments below and then follow us on Pinterest and Facebook for more Xbox gaming news.
