Back last week we reported on the fact that Microsoft showed plans to better integrate Office 365 into Windows 10 with Office Hubs, One Clip, and Working Sets. Now a week later, more details on One Clip have emerged, and it is reportedly set to return as a Windows feature in Windows 10 Redstone 2 (via Windows Central.)
According to Zac Bowden, the 2017 final version of OneClip will be very similar to the Microsoft Garage project version which the public originally got a peek of back in May of 2015. The differences, though, are that it will now be developed by the Office and Windows 10 team and will have different UI.
OneClip will also apparently be a productivity software and complement Office 2017, and will go along with Working Sets (previously described here.) Additionally, it will also be a service which will have a stream that will backup, store, and collect copied information for future use, or for when on the go. According to Zac, the OneClip stream can also be pulled up from within Office documents, and content can be pulled, filtered, or sorted with ease.
As noted, content compatible with OneClip will include Favorites, Websites, Images, Phone numbers, Text, Locations, and Email. It is expected to be multi-platform, and might be rebranded as “Bundle” when it launches on Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, Android, iOS and Mac OS. The main goal of OneClip, nonetheless, will still be to “copy once, and paste everywhere.”
