Microsoft released this week the Windows 10 Redstone 2 build 14905 for PCs and phones to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring, and if you already installed the new bits on your PC you may have spotted a new bug that wasn’t listed in the build’s known issues. Indeed, it appears that a bug is currently preventing you from changing your Insider Preview settings in the Windows 10 Settings app.
Jason “NorthFaceHiker”, Program Manager on the Windows Insider Engineering team at Microsoft acknowledged the issue in a post on the company’s community forums:
This bug only affects users on build 14905 for PC. It *does not* impact Mobile users. Users on this new build will not be able to change the Insider Preview Build settings on their PC. The cause of this issue has already been discovered and a fix is already in the works. This fix will be included in an upcoming flight.
There are no workarounds for this issue. It does not impact core OS functionality, only the ability to change flight settings. If you find it necessary to make changes before a future build is released with the fix, you may roll back to your previous build via the Settings menu. This however should not be required.
While this bug is not so terrible, it’s good to know that the company is aware of it and will hopefully fix it in the next Redstone 2 build. Anyway, that’s what the Windows Insider program is for, right? Let us know in the comments what is your experience with the Redstone build 14905 so far.
