Discovery News app debuts on Windows 8.1, discover the world with your fingertips

For those of you who are curious about the world, you likely watch the Discovery Channel. Well, now you can read up on the latest news with the brand new Discovery News app for Windows 8.1. This app was just made available to the Windows Store and is highly recommended by us.

“From the people who bring you the Discovery Channel, Discovery News is the collective effort of a team of experienced journalists dedicated to satisfying the curiosity of our readers by bringing them stories and perspectives they won’t find anywhere else. With the Discovery News app for Windows, you’ll be constantly updated with news articles, videos, photos and more – with a primary focus on explaining the world through a lens of curiosity,” the app description reads. Here are the key features of this app:

  • New stories and videos added daily.
  • Awesome Categories: Earth, Space, Tech, Animals, History, Human and Adventure.
  • Video: Watch countless episodes of DNews and get the lowdown every weekday from hosts Anthony Carboni, Laci Green and Trace Dominguez.
  • Photos: Swipe through a vast catalog of stunning photo galleries.
  • Discovernator: An endless supply of crazy, amazing facts so you can find out what you didn’t know and impress your friends.

The app features a gorgeous layout and stunning visuals, all while providing you with the latest news in various categories. The app has lots of material for you to read and watch, bringing the world to your fingertips. For example, if you like reading up on gadgets, biotechnology, or even about the human body, there are tons of material to keep you busy.

The Discovery News app doesn’t support Windows 8.1’s Snap view just yet, nor were we able to use the Share charm to share a post. We’re sure there are more features that will be added to the app in future releases.

The app is free and you can snag it via the download link below. Let us know how you like it!
