There’s been quite a lot of talk about drones of late. As well as concerns about these tiny flying machines being used to police and monitor crowds, or to assist in spying, it has also been suggested that the likes of Amazon could use them to make local order deliveries. But of course drones can also just be a lot of fun — as demonstrated by the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 which can be used to take to the skies and capture in-flight footage.
Originally the devices could only be controlled using an app for iOS and Android phones and tablets, but now there’s AR.FreeFlight app for Windows 8. It’s compatible with x86, x64, and ARM processors, so it can be used on a Surface 2 or other tablet running Windows RT, as well as devices packing full-blown Windows 8.1.
The app can be used to pilot your drone from the comfort of Windows — all it takes is a tilt of your device to send the drone in the direction of your choice.
