Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere program is bridging Xbox and Windows by bringing the former’s games to Windows 10 through the Windows Store, with support for cross play and cross saves. While the program itself is not set for a full launch till September (after the Windows 10 Anniversary Update), the next step of the convergence is already happening, as pre-ordering for at least one Xbox game is showing up on the Windows Store.
The game in question is ReCore – a new 3D platforming IP from the minds of platforming games legend Keiji Inafune of Megaman fame. Typing “ReCore” in the Store search box will take you to a brief description of the game, along with a Pre-order button; pressing it will take you to the Xbox pre-ordering webpage.
While we’re not sure how new this is, it at least shows that Microsoft is making an effort to combine the Xbox game store and the Windows Store, in addition to just bridging the two platforms. The next step should be for users to be able to pre-order directly from the Store app; only the future can tell however, and it’s only a few months away. Stay tuned for updates and more interesting Xbox and Windows news.
