Update: Microsoft has responded to this claim. “The suggestion that all Windows 8 apps run on Xbox One is not accurate,” a Microsoft spokesperson stated. Microsoft did not go in-depth into the answer and did not clarify if some Windows 8 apps will run on the Xbox One. You can read the original report below.
Well this is interesting. It appears Dell has lifted the lid off an unannounced feature coming with the Xbox One in November. According to the Xbox One Product page on the Dell website (first reported by our friends at Neowin.net), the Xbox One will be able to run Windows 8 apps which sync across all your devices. Interesting.
The product page claims that “… all your favorite Windows 8 apps [are] able to be run on and synced to your Xbox One,” which makes it sound a lot like the Xbox One will be able to run Windows 8 apps.
Indeed, this could just be talking about how some Windows 8 apps can act like a second screen to games for Xbox One, but Microsoft has commented on Windows 8 apps on Xbox One in the past, claiming that developers should begin designing Windows 8 apps to be ahead on Xbox One when it launches in November.
As Microsoft are yet to confirm the ability to run Windows 8 apps on Xbox One, we assume Dell have either accidentally released this information, or have miss worded it entirely. What do you think? Does it sound like Xbox One will be able to run Windows 8 apps? Leave your thoughts below!
