During April 2013 Patch Tuesday, Microsoft released an update for Windows 7 (KB2823324) which was a security update for the Windows 7 file system kernel-mode driver. Unfortunately for some users, this update has resulted in an infinite reboot loop.
This report comes out of Brazil where users of Windows 7 x86 installed this update and it placed computers in an infinite reboot loop. It seems like this issue is only affecting those in Brazil, which it may be possible that others elsewhere are affected too. Thankfully, there is a quick fix.
For those who have not installed the update yet, simply turn off automatic updates and avoid installing the update by blocking it. If you have the update installed, head over to safe mode and run the following command in command prompt:
DISM.exe / image: C: \ [windows7 install]/ cleanup-image / revertpendingact
This method should remove the update until Microsoft resolves the issue. Has anyone experienced this issue?
Update: Microsoft has issued a formal statement regarding the issue and has offered a solution. The company has also pulled the update from Windows Update.
