Yesterday, Bing Search on Android got a small update with some unnamed security improvements. According to a tip by a WinBeta reader, there may be some upcoming design changes in store for Bing Search. At the moment, it doesn’t look like the Bing Search design changes are connected to the app just yet for some. Here is the official change log:
- Redesigned homepage. One tap to see restaurants, movies, images, videos, maps, deals, attractions near you.
- More than just web search. Take action right away with the apps you trust, along with QR scanning, more-accessible privacy controls, Bing Rewards and more.
- Your stuff’s still here. Your bookmarks, search history, Bing Rewards credits are all here. Tap the menu to find them.
Bing Search on Android provides a number of great features in addition to providing search results. Bing Search allows you to use Bing Snapshots, which is similar to Google Now’s “On Tap” feature. Bing Snapshots works with other Android apps by detecting information within the app and providing a snapshot of useful actions related to that information. Bing requires permission to Android’s Accessibility feature for snapshots on tap to work.
Bing Search also provides Android users with Bing Rewards where you can redeem points towards gift cards for Amazon, Starbucks, and others, earned for using Bing Search. Android users can also set their wallpaper from the Bing image of the day, or choose an image from Bing’s extensive image library.

According to some Bing Search app reviews in the Google Play Store, some Android users have already received the new design features, but are are also experiencing some major bugs preventing the app from working properly and are clamoring for Microsoft to fix them as soon as possible. Not surprisingly, it appears that there are a lot of Android users who use Bing Search for their web search needs instead of Google, which is awesome.
