Among all of the hustle of big-ticket, cutting-edge items that were unveiled at CES 2016, Dell’s big announcement was slightly more humble. Announced at the Pepcom Digital Experience trade show was Dell’s new entry in the Inspiron 11 3000 line – a $199 notebook. The budget laptop is a significant change from the previous machines that carried the Inspiron 11 3000 name, the most recent of which being a significantly more powerful 2-in-1 laptop with a swivel monitor.

Dell’s making no secret of the fact that you get what you pay for with this notebook. You won’t be able to do too much beyond web browsing and instant messaging with it, but there are definitely a ton of people who think that’s totally acceptable for their needs as a consumer. The newest machine in the Inspiron 11 3000 line is going to find a cozy spot among its desired market, striking a chord with customers who wanted something like the chromebook that was still built with Windows 10 in mind.

The new Inspiron 11 3000’s design should appeal to its audience. It comes in 3 different colors (blue, red, and white), sports an Intel Celeron Processor, and is extremely portable – the 11.6″ ideal travel size to put in a purse or a bag while traveling, and the base of the laptop has a spacious and comfortable looking keyboard that shouldn’t give too much trouble to those who want to type at-length. All-in-all, the newest Inspiron 11 3000 machine – while certainly not what people expected – should be good at what it does. It’s hard to argue with a price tag of $199 when you’re dealing with a laptop, and for people who only need a notebook to take notes or browse the internet, Dell really hit the nail on the head when it comes to pleasing customers.
