This past week was all about the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, with hardly any big news in regards to Windows 10 Mobile. Let’s take a look back and see what did take place in the world of Windows 10.
We learned this past week that Windows 10 Mobile usage as increased to 7 percent, compared to 5.7 percent the previous month. The number will likely increase when more people get their pre-ordered Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XLs. The new operating system is also set to hit existing devices in the coming months in phases to selected devices.
We learned about Windows Phone Internals recently, a tool that unlocks the bootloader for select Lumia Windows Phone models, allowing for root access to be enabled on the phone. This would allow one to flash custom ROMs onto the phone, similar to Android, which has an active custom ROM-building community.
A Japan-based manufacturer Freetel has introduced a budget-friendly Windows 10 Mobile handset dubbed as Katana 01. The handset is set to hit the retail shelves in the country from November 30th carrying a JPY 12,800 (about $104 US) price tag.
ProShot, the self-proclaimed “world’s most advanced camera app,” rolled out an important update to its current Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 Mobile app. ProShot is geared towards the Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile user looking to take quality pictures without the need to tote around a DSLR.
