Microsoft recently released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25936 to the Canary Channel and introduced an innovative feature known as Post-OOBE Experiences. This feature aims to help users understand new facets of Windows 11 and aids in streamlining device setup.
Personalized Introduction to Windows 11
The Post-OOBE (Out-Of-Box Experience) feature becomes active during the setup of Windows 11. Users will come across a page titled “Let’s Customize Your Experience,” where they can express their ‘intent’ for using the device. Among the variety of intents to choose from is the ‘Development Intent.’
Choosing the ‘Development Intent’ presents the user with Dev Home, a comprehensive tool designed specifically for developers. Dev Home provides an extensive platform to aid in performing an array of developer tasks. This is a part of Microsoft’s larger agenda to offer a more personalized user experience.
The Get Started App
Those keen on exploring Windows 11 will be introduced to the ‘Get Started’ app. This app launches automatically and serves as a personalized manual guiding users through the latest features in Windows 11, notably showcasing Dev Home for those who have opted for ‘Development Intent.’
Upon selecting the ‘Restore’ option during the set-up process, you will be seamlessly directed to the ‘Get Started’ app following your second login. This app version takes them on a customized tour explaining critical apps and settings. A notable feature of this variant is that it informs users about their restored device and guides them toward accessing previously installed applications via the Start menu or taskbar.
Beta Testing Phase and Future Developments
As the Post-OOBE experiences are presently in their beta testing phase, they’ll initially only be available to a small subset of Insiders in the Canary Channel. The users may experience different variations of these new features.
