AMD has announced that it will be the exclusive partner for Bethesda’s upcoming action-RPG Starfield on PC. The announcement video says that,
The partnership with Bethesda and AMD will truly create a transformational experience with more immersion, more detail, and more exploration.
The exclusive partnership means that Starfield will likely not feature DLSS—Nvidia’s proprietary resolution upscaling technology. The latest iteration, DLSS 3, is one of the hottest features in PC gaming right now, with a growing list of games supporting it.
Instead, Starfield will make use of AMD’s own upscaling technology: FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR 2), which works with both AMD and Nvidia graphics cards.
Starfield, which Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard states is the developer’s “most ambitious game ever,” is finally due to release on September 6 following years of anticipation. Earlier this month Bethesda revealed a huge amount of new info on the game during the Starfield Direct showcase liverstream.
