News on GTA 6 has been hard to come by. We know the game is coming eventually, though its existence has scarcely been acknowledged other than a tweet from Rockstar Games back in February confirming “that active development for the next entry in the series is underway.”
In fact, “insiders” previously claimed that GTA 6 would be officially announced on or before May 17—the date of Rockstar’s next earnings call (which just happens to be today), however that rumored announcement does not appear to be materializing thus far.
Another rumor circulating is that GTA 6 will be a billion dollar video game, possibly the first. Dexerto Gaming has reported that the next entry in the massively popular open-world action adventure franchise will cost Rockstar and Take-Two between $1-2 billion.

This would easily make it the most expensively-developed game ever. Granted, this is GTA we’re talking about, and as an all-but-certain smash hit GTA 6 will likely make that money back quickly whenever it releases. GTA 5 has raked in over $8 billion in sales so far for comparison, with 230 million copies sold.
