Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios have dropped yet another Dead Island 2 trailer ahead of next month’s launch. This time it is the cinematic title sequence, which was developed by Elastic, the same studio behind the intro for HBO’s The Last of Us.
As one might expect, the trailer is not for the faint of heart. The cinematic is mostly a montage of ambient shots; the eyeball floating in a martini is a particularly gross touch. The song “Drown” by Danger Mouse and Karen O is featured in the trailer, which shows a Los Angeles overrun with zombies. The opening definitely sets a horrific tone for what is sure to be a thrilling pulp horror adventure.
Dead Island 2 is the follow-up to the 2011 action horror classic Dead Island, and has been in the making for years after multiple delays. It releases on April 21st for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC.
