Google seems to be getting concerned about ChatGPT especially after word spread that it could be coming to Bing soon. Google has scheduled a surprise media event on Wednesday, February 8th, where it says it will show how the company uses AI to enhance how people search for and interact with information.
Invitations to the live stream event were sent to media outlets late Thursday, The event is being held in Paris and will start at 8:30 am Eastern Time and 5:30 am Pacific Time. The YouTube link to the event might give us some clues, showing off previous AI tools like Google Translate and Google Lens. The event comes on the heels of Google’s less-than-stellar fourth quarter of 2022. ChatGPT officially launched in late November 2022 and over 100 million users have already accessed the service, and Microsoft appears to be all in on ChatGPT with its new partnership. Rumors are Google’s answer to ChatGPT could be called Apprentice Bard.
Has Microsoft gotten ahead and caused worry for Google? Sure seems like it.
