It appears as though longtime Halo developer 343 Industries will be impacted by the recently announced layoffs at Microsoft. As reported by Lords of Gaming, at least 60 employees at 343 will be let go, which reportedly had some 450 employees at its peak.
343 Industries took over the reins of the Halo franchise back in 2007 and is the team behind Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians and most recently Halo Infinite.
The layoffs are part of Microsoft’s recently announced plan to cut costs by eliminating 10,000 jobs over the next three months. It has also been reported that veteran Joseph Staten is leaving 343 Industries, though he was not let go by the studio according to the report but rather is leaving of his own accord to rejoin the Xbox publishing team.
343 Industries is not the only game developer to be impacted by the mass layoffs at Microsoft, with Bethesda Game Studios losing at least two PR staff and Gears of War developer The Coalition also being affected.
