It looks like Xbox 360 free Games with Gold will soon be a thing of the past.
Xbox has been sending emails stating that starting on October 1, the monthly free Games with Gold will no longer include those from Microsoft’s seventh generation console. The email states, “We have reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalogue.” Instead, all monthly free Games with Gold from that point forward will be limited to the Xbox One catalog.
Xbox is sending out emails saying that Games with Gold will no longer include Xbox 360 titles.
The email is a bit confusing but it looks like all future Games with Gold offerings will only include XB1 titles going forward. pic.twitter.com/W8mlEsVKmn

The email also states that any Xbox 360 games downloaded before the October 2022 cutoff date will not be impacted. Also, any Xbox 360 games redeemed before that point will be “yours to keep on your Xbox account, regardless of whether you continue your subscription.” To be clear, this doesn’t include deals and discounts on Xbox 360 games; rather, it only pertains to the monthly free games lineup.
So with that, it looks like the end of an era. What do you think of this news? Is it a disappointment, or do you think the move to exclude Xbox 360 games from free Games with Gold is long overdue? Let us know in the comments.
