During the annual earnings call with investors, Satya Nadella detailed some new usage numbers for Teams. The collaboration service has now apparently exceeded 270 million monthly active users.
Microsoft no longer reports daily active Teams users, but there’s a chance those numbers are all likely higher than the 10 million daily active users reported in April 2021. This new monthly active number should still be no surprise, as Teams last hit 250 million monthly active users in July of 2021. That means a 20 million increase between the last six months.
Per Nadella, though, Teams is seeing “growth in every segment.” Particularly, in the frontline worker segment. Frontline workers usage up 2x YoY, including Walmart, which chose Teams for their more than 2 million frontline workers this quarter.
According to Nadella, Teams is also “becoming the standard for unified communications.” The CEO says that Over 90% of Fortune 500 companies used Teams Phones this quarter. Previously, Microsoft shared that 124 organizations had over 100,000 users who leverage Teams service for communicating and collaboration. In the past, he also said that 3,000 organizations boasted over 10,000 users on the platform.
