Microsoft has released a new firmware update for its Surface Duo dual-screen smartphone. This release doesn’t come with any new features or improvements, and it only brings the September 2021 Android security patch.
The latest update began rolling out yesterday and weighs in at around 76.18 MB. It arrives with firmware version 2021.817.35 in North America and 2021.817.37 in Europe. It is important to note that these updates are rolling out to unlocked variants of the Duo first, and users that own the AT&T version might have to wait slightly longer for these updates.

Microsoft launched its Surface Duo smartphone in September of last year, and the company has continuously been making improvements over time. However, the dual-screen device is still running Android 10, and Microsoft has yet to confirm when Android 11 will be available on the Surface Duo.
The Redmond giant will likely announce a refreshed Surface Duo 2 at this Surface event on September 22. The Surface Duo 2 will reportedly come with a triple-camera setup on the rear, and it will be interesting to see if the device ships with Android 11, too.
