Microsoft’s Xbox app gains new stories feature with latest iOS and Android updates

The official Xbox app updated for both iOS and Android devices this week with the long-awaited return of posts and comments.

Unfortunately, only official game pages can create posts in the mobile apps right now though anyone can read them, like them, and comment on them. This is admittedly rather odd as the older Xbox apps supported a full social feed that anyone could post to. Xbox consoles have also had this functionality for several years now.

To make things even more confusing, there’s no actual social feed yet on the iOS and Android apps so users currently have to navigate either to a game’s profile or view their latest posts in the new stories feature.

That’s right. This latest update added stories to the mobile Xbox apps. Right now they seem to work much like the similar feature on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook though they appear to just be a story-like display of regular posts, not an actual special post created specifically to be viewed as a story.

Xbox stories should now be live for most iPhone and Android users with the latest app update installed. They can be found below the online friends on the Xbox app’s main screen.

  • Keep up with your favorite games by checking out official game posts in a new mobile-first experience.
  • Engage with the community! See what people are saying in the comments – add your own and share with friends.
  • Reliability and consistency improvements
