Microsoft has released today the May Patch Tuesday updates for all supported versions of Windows 10, including the new version 21H1 currently available for Beta and Release Preview Insiders. The same KB5003173 update is now available for Windows 10 versions 21H1, 20H2, and 2004, which all share a common core.
The full release notes for the KB5003173 patch are not available yet on Microsoft’s support website, but we’ll update this post once we have them. In the meantime, key changes mentioned on the Windows Insider blog include security updates to Windows App Platform and Frameworks, the Windows Kernel, Windows Media, the Microsoft Scripting Engine, and the Windows Silicon Platform.

As Windows 10 version 20H2 crossed 40% market share in April according to AdDuplex, Microsoft is expected to start rolling out Windows 10 version 21H1 later this month. This minor update will bring multiple camera support for Windows Hello as well as performance improvements for Windows Defender Application Guard, and it will install like a regular cumulative update.
Today also marks the end of support of Windows 10 version 1909 for Home and Pro users, who should now upgrade to a newer version of the OS. According to the Windows 10 Health Dashboard, Microsoft finally removed last week the last upgrade blocks preventing users with certain Conexant audio drivers to install Windows 10 version 2004 or 20H2.
