Microsoft has just released an update for Edge Insiders in the Dev channel. Coming in at build 90.0.810.1, this week’s release tweaks the vertical tabs pane. Of course, there are also the usual bug fixes, too. Here’s a look at what you need to know.
First off, the added features. With the improvements to the vertical tabs pane, it is now possible to drag and drop links so you can open them in a new tab. Also new is the ability to resize the pane itself. Other improvements in this release include support for more in-page translation languages and the finalized rollout of the new mini context menus in PDFs.
Now, for the reliability and changed behaviors. There’s a bit to note this week. Microsoft has fixed a crash when playing audio. They also fixed a crash on launch for work or school users with multiple browser profiles. And for changed behaviors, they’ve fixed an issue where the active tab’s text appears grayed out as if it weren’t active. - Fixed an issue where searching in the sidebar fails if too much text is selected as the search term.
- Fixed an issue where Edge stops getting updates when running on certain devices.
- Fixed an issue where a profile error with the text “Some features not available. Something went wrong.” appears when opening Edge.
- Fixed an issue where opening subsequent favorites in a new tab from a folder dropdown on the favorites bar fails.
Improved performance when searching for favorites.- Fixed an issue where the Downloads popup icon doesn’t appear on the toolbar while downloading a file of indeterminate size.
- Fixed an issue where printing only certain pages sometimes results in all pages getting printed.
- Fixed an issue where Edge shows an “unsupported hardware” message on certain devices.
- Fixed an issue where the Shopping icon appears on websites it shouldn’t.
- Fixed an issue where the Syllables toggle in Grammar Tools isn’t working.
The known issues are the same as prior releases. Extensions might not work on Linux. Ad blocking extensions will mess with YouTube, tabs might crash with an error, and more. Microsoft is investigating these issues and we hope they can fix them soon.
