Microsoft has announced that it is integrating Yammer Communities notifications in its Teams collaboration platform. Thanks to this update, users will now be able to receive notifications from Yammer communities in the Teams activity feed on the web, desktop, as well as mobile devices.
“Today we’re announcing the rollout of notifications from Yammer communities in Microsoft Teams. With millions of employees working remotely or in hybrid environments, it’s more important than ever for employees to feel connected. Teams makes it easier to collaborate with others, create workspaces, chat, meet virtually with others, and integrate your business solutions all from a single platform,” the company explained.
The company released a new Yammer Communities app in Microsoft Teams back in April 2020. The app enables users to connect with coworkers, share announcements, and attend live events directly within Teams. Thanks to improved integration with Teams, Yammer users will begin receiving notifications about @mentions within a conversation and community announcements on their PCs. This should make it easier for them to read, react, or reply to the post all within Teams.
On mobile, these Yammer notifications will be available for users on the lock screens, providing quick access to all the latest news and updates. Microsoft noted that this change should benefit Frontline workers, employees, and functional communities. It will help communicators and leaders to keep everyone updated with policy updates, organizational change, and safety information.
Keep in mind that this change applies to organizations or specific users in an organization who have already installed the Communities app in Microsoft Teams. Users need to head over to the app store to install the Communities app in Teams and pin it next to Chats and Teams. However, IT Admins can also use custom policies to deploy and pin the app for all users in their organization or specific departments.
